Baby Bump Must Haves

Here I have Hue leggings on and a Maternity shirt by Three SeasonsI found at a local department store called.
This is what I have been wearing for the past 3 months or so. I found that legging go with everything so I bought them in a few neutral colors. They were comfortable for my growing belling I had enough room at the top to have them go over my bump. It worked out perfect because for this seasons fall/winter style leggings/jeggings were in, something that I have never worn before I was pregnant. They are ideal to wear with winter boots, everyday shoes or even with a dresser top.

One of my first maternity purchases were a few tops to accentuate my pump so I didn't look like I had a bit of a gut. They scrunched up on the sides to give you more stretch around your belly.

Both were inexpensive the top was around $15.00 and leggings were an average of $6.00-$10.00. If they are feeling a little snug you won't break the bank in investing in a larger size.

15week 5day Drs Visit

Here you are 15w 5d.
You are the size of a PEAR.
Visit to the Doctors
We got to hear the heart beat. We have only seen it previously. Although we didn't do an ultrasound today it still was reassuring and the babies heart beat was nice and strong.  I never looked forward to seeing the Dr. then what I do now.

How far along?
15weeks 5days

Total weight gain?
7lb gained with a total of 128lbs. This was the peak of how much I have ever weighed pre-baby bump.

Maternity clothes?
The weather is deffinatly getting colder with the low of 21° so I have been on the hunt for wormer clothes and more of a variety. My baby bump is still at that point where I look like I ate a few too many snacks. So wearing something formfitting would show it off a little more. ;) My next post I will add some of my favorite maternity clothes tips and tricks. here

Stretch marks?
Nope! I have been using Palmers Cocoa Butter Massage Lotion just to be on the safe side. It also helps with that "pregnancy skin" to keep it nice and soft.

Sleep?
I have been trying to sleep on my left side as recommended and it has caused some arm and back pain and cramping. I recommend Leachco Snoogle Total Body Pregnancy Support Pillow it is a MUST. I did try one other brand of support pillow and this was by far the best. Getting back to how I have been sleeping I still wake up every few hours or so to use the bathroom My leg cramps are not as bad or often. I do take naps from time to time due to never getting a full nights sleep and headaches.

Best moment this week?
Deffinatly hearing our Baby Figs heartbeat and setting up our next appointment to find out the sex (4 weeks from now). I always love going in and checking up on the little guy or girl.

Miss anything?
I miss wearing my old pre-pregnancy clothes. Also my fabulous Jeffery Campbell shoes have to go on the shelf, they are a little too high and wild for my lifestyle right now.

Movement?
No and I guess we won't until about 18-20 weeks.

Food cravings?
I think I am back to the norm. But I am looking forward to Thanksgiving this week. This time I wont feel guilty for having seconds or even thirds and most of all I wont have to undo my button on my pants.:)

Gender?
Not yet, but GREAT NEWS we get to find out December 17th, 4 weeks from now!!!!!! I guess we will have to wait until week 19.

Labour signs?
Nope

Symptoms?
The number one symptom would be my migraines, they are pretty intense. They usually come in the evenings and last all night or Ill have them right when I get up. They are right at my temples I have sensitivity to bright light and some noise and smell. Its rough because I cant do much about it besides lay down with my eyes shut with the blinds drawn in a dark room. I have been feeling more nausea for longer periods at a time.

Belly button in or out?
Nope its the same. My stomach hasn't gotten much bigger this week I don't think.

Happy or moody most of the time?
I am feeling antsy for the most part. Now that I have more energy and more in the mood to do stuff its hard to sit at home at times when friends are out. Or I want to look at gender base stuff for the little one and I can't yet. We are also looking for houses so just a lot going with waiting and not knowing. I am a little moody at points and frustrated but for the most part excited and happy! We told most of our friends and family its so nice to see all of the reactions and to be completely open about our pregnancy now!

Looking forward to?
I know its 4 weeks away, but I cant wait to find out if we are having a boy or girl and just to see him/her on the ultrasound again, I love that, it makes me feel that much more connected. On a different note I cant wait until Thanksgiving with all of the yummy food and to see family. I might just see a little growth on the baby bump area :).

Keep in-touch for upcoming post on fashion this week....
Now that I am all caught up on my posts I am finding it therapeutic in a way. I cant wait to look back and see what I put during this process. Especially now because time is going by so so slow. That being said heres to another week and looking forward to fashion posts and other baby luvs.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Halloween DIY announcement

Coming up with our Announcement was such a treat. I had a vision of what I wanted to do and it came out perfect. My creative process ~I wanted a costume that resembled something pure beautiful majestic; this came the mother nature theme + the color palette of  Baby Fig just the nature of the two of them.
Material:
 Crown
  • Silk leaves, mine already had gold paint on it.
  • Wire cutters.
  • Heavy rustic floral wire for the base, I had some left over from another project.
  • Hot glue and hot glue gun.
Makeup
  • Gold leaves.
  • Spray mount, this is what I had but I would recommend another type of face adhesive.
  • (not shown) Gold and plumb eyes shadow.
  • (not shown) Eye lashes, I used purple.
  • I bought 3 types of gold dust; for my hair and body, you can do as you please.
I found all of my materials from Hobby Lobby (a craft store). Be sure to check online for coupons they usually have 40% coupons and sales every day.

Heres How
Crown
  1. Measure the crown with the rustic floral wire around your head.
  2. Cut random pieces of the silk leaves from the stem with wire cutters.
  3. Randomly place the silk leaves around the crown and with the hot glue gun glue in the center.
Makeup
  1. I put my base makeup on (my usual everyday). I used liquid eye liner on the tops of my eyes to make a winged look at the ends. To enhance my cheek bones I used more bronzer then usual and a dash of plumb with a blush brush.
  2. I applied false eyelashes, mine were purple.
  3. In stages I applied adhesive to my brows as I stuck the gold dust to it, not allowing it to dry too quick. The gold dust comes in flakes so tear it as you please.
ENJOY & CREATE!!
 Happy Halloween!!!

Halloween Announcement

Every year for Halloween months before I am preparing for some elaborate creation. This year Ive been a little sidetracked with our new addition and mostly exhausted to think of a costume. Although I didn't want to let it pass by, it came to me one morning just waking up laying in bed.
It was also the perfect time for our announcement date. (tools needed for this costume and iron-on t-shirt.)
I did a mother nature theme costume along with Baby Fig iron-on announcement.

Here I am 12weeks 5days.

First Trimester Recap 7-12w

On October 22nd of 2013 we got to see our little Baby Fig it was such an unreal experience. He/she was actually moving so much inside of me I couldn't believe it, all of 2in. of you! At this point it became more real then ever. We could see all angles of our baby, its little feet moving, arms pumping, it was a little gymnast just floating in there. We even got to see him/her sucking its thumb (below).
You are 11w 4d old.
You are about 2in or the size of a FIG.
Here is the start of my weekly log. I will do my best to update it weekly. With my obsessive blogging research I found a few question that I would document each week. I though this would be a cute idea due to the ever changing surge of hormones and body changes of being pregnant and to see progression of my baby bump.....

How far along?
7-12 week period summed up. First Trimester is almost over…fewww!

Total weight gain?
I lost a few pounds at the beginning due to lack of appetite.

Maternity clothes?
M belly popped right out from the beginning, my jeans were no longer of use. We were just getting into the fall weather so I decided to stock up on leggings/jeggings. I also had to buy a few maternity shirts and take out a few looser tops. It was a perfect transition from spring clothes to fall. I also went from high wedges to flats or boots.

Stretch marks?
Nope. But I am going to transition into using a Cocoa Butter lotion soon just to on the safe side.

Sleep?
Well.... where should I start. This is deffinatly something unless you have been there you have NO idea. I wasn't just tired ALL THE TIME the cramps in my legs kept me up at all hours of the night as well as going to the bathroom every half hour, so napping was a MUST. I found that exercise helped with my restless legs. This was one of the most difficult parts.

Best moment this week?
Deffinatly seeing our Baby Fig on the ultrasound (above)... it was so unbelievable! This is something that I really am looking forward to each time.

Miss anything?
Sleep, my mind, my body... to put it lightly :). Although I am so used to it now, I do miss drinking. Having a drink with dinner or going out with friend and being silly. It is nice and relaxing just to stay at home right now though.

Movement?
Not yet... but I know Baby Fig is moving all over in there :) hehe

Food cravings?
I used to be a chips and salty kinda girl and I am now a sweets person. With all of my senses heightened I had for the first time while pregnant ice-cream and it was like fireworks in my mouth...wow. I have been craving lots of water on a good note.

Gender?
Not yet but I do think its a boy, just a guess.

Labour signs?
Nope

Symptoms?
I could list all of the symptoms of the first trimester from the book  What To Expect When You're Expecting, but I won't. (more of my symptoms on this post) The first trimester I was in a pretty horrible place for a while... a little coo coo.

Belly button in or out?
No but its deffinatly surfacing.

Happy or moody most of the time?
Happy at this point, but I was the definition of moody... I feel bad about putting this, but it is the truth. I am deffinatly taking advantage of my good days now!

Looking forward to?
Just getting through the first trimester. I can not stop thinking about our next Drs. appointment.

Thank you for letting me share this. Look on for more posts.

First Trimester Recap 2-6w

I would have to admit the first trimester was very difficult for me emotionally. Looking back now I can't believe what an emotional roller coaster it was. From what I have found I'm not sure if many women do. It wasn't what I was expecting it to be at all. What I found so difficult were mainly two things.

I was constantly tired and at night I couldn't sleep from the leg cramps and having to get up to use the bathroom. At all hours of the day I was purely exhausted. The second thing I found the most difficult was how emotional I was. I felt really confused and worried, after all I was supposed to be so happy about being pregnant and I was just sad.
It was deffinatly a strengthening period for Chip and I. I felt so bad for him after all he could not relate and he was honestly thinking he had found the craziest girl on the planet…. I was beginning to feel like I was a crazy person.

I also had periods of time where I broke out on my face and neck area. I did buy some face wipes to help, I was a little held back on the thought, because I had never had an issue with that.
Surprisingly I didn't call to my Drs. office much. The one time I did I had stomach pains on my side. It was just stomach muscles stretching, its quite normal and I'm used to it now.

Anyways this just does not sound like much like a joyful experience, but from what I have read and how I have been feeling now you will be your self again and have an enjoyable experience. I feel a lot better now after my 11 week period. I would describe it as my head feels out of the clouds and I can breath again!!

Its a strong cocktail of hormones and chemicals not to mention our little Baby Fig. The hormones estrogen and progesterone increase rapidly in the first few months affecting the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain. (read more on it here

Here are some helpful suggestions on how to put your mind and body at ease.
Take it easy. Slow down, I found that when I was moody everything was extreme.

Bond with your partner. Although I thought just by telling him how I was feeling and having him understand would work. Allow him to be connected as much as possible. Most of all make time for the both of you!

Do something that makes you feel good. It met a lot to me when someone took me out to get my nails done or my hair, these little things would relax me and put me as ease looking back. I would also start reading up on baby blogs and books to get a better understanding on myself and pumped for the baby.

Reach out. Air your worries with understanding supportive friends. Just being able to get them out with help release some of that anxiety. They would also be useful in giving you insight into solutions or dispute them. My friends helped me out so much I don't know what I would do without them. Talk with your partner as well, keep it a two way street, listen to his feelings too.

Manage your stress. One thing that I have learned in the past is to manage my stress that was helpful and key to being healthy and happy. Don't overt think stuff, write things down, see a councilor, find ways to decompress. SLEEP even though this was nearly impossible during my first trimester. Eat well be conscious of what goes into your body, but snack too. Exercise, find a routine to do. Have fun!

I found it really helpful to listen and to read other people stories… this is mine.

These suggestion are just what I found helpful. You don't have to follow these nor do I have any medical backing.

I'm Pregnant!

The Big News...

We are expecting May 11, 2014!!!! We are both so excited about it and couldn't be any happier to start our own little family.

I have to say it's been the hardest secret to keep, we couldn't wait for the first 12 weeks to make the announcement.

Immediately I started to read up on health, nutrition, symptoms, and what our next step should be. Chip being the protector that he is wanted to make sure the baby and I had the best care we could get. He was on the phone right away, and before I knew it, I had a set OBGYN and whole birthing plan put together.

How many times can you have such an experience? I wanted to log my pregnancy and early baby months and really take advantage of this journey. I thought it would be an extraordinary way to see the progress and share it with others.

So, here we go, the blissful moments to mood-swings to new memories we are so looking forward to these 9 months! :)
